Day 30: A Picture Of You From Last Year And Now. How much have you changed?

Picture of me taken from last year, 30th July 2011

Picture of me taken today, 30th August 2012

Hope everyone does not mind seeing my face again and again.

I sure am lucky to find a photo of me that was taken exactly a year ago. It was just a picture I took before going to a YFC meeting which I never had guts to upload to any site except this blog since it is essential for this post. On the other hand, today's snapshot was taken few hours ago when we had a family dinner at a fine restaurant located inside a hotel (where my mom is currently working at).

As for the question-- how much have I changed? I personally think not much. Other than having a fringe now, I don't really see a drastic change. At a glance, you might think my cheeks got chubbier, but it's only because of the angle. My dark circles and laugh lines aren't that apparent on the recent photo but again, I think it's only because of the quality of the photo, haha. However, my skin condition has improved. You might not be able to see it but I actually have more faint acne scars last year than now. Touch wood that it would get more and more better. And that's pretty much everything that I could notice, looks like I haven't much changed; I have no clue though whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. Hope it's not the latter but improving oneself for the better is not so bad either, is it?

Now, this is the final day challenge, right? I am feeling glad yet somewhat wistful at the same time. Honestly speaking, I am well pleased that I completed the challenge, because to tell you, I initially thought it was undemanding to post everyday for a whole month without fail but it's actually not. I had a lot of posts that wasn't published on time. However, it's really fun; I reminisced my childhood days, talked about my preferences and even disclosed what's inside my bag. And even though I admit that I felt that my blog was getting out of hand and messy, I still don't regret doing it. Not at all, because it was a really great experience.

I wish everyone a blessed August ahead. :)

Day 29: Your Favorite Song

I will bring You more than a song.

Instead of posting a pop song, I decided to present my favourite worship song of all time. The Heart of Worship is one the worship songs that first heard and I loved it even more when we had to play it for Music Ministry (I was in charged of the keyboard) in our YFC  National Conference last year. Now, I'll stop babbling here and I hope that you'll spare five minutes of your time to listen to the video above. May God be praised. :)

"But I will sing your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and refuge in the day of my distress." - Psalm 59:16

Day 28: A Picture Of What You Wore Today

A picture of what I wore today

The concluding post for today after going on hiatus for two days.

First things first. I'm not a fashion blogger so please cut me some slack! Since I was just going to a friend's house, I wore something casual and comfortable. Not to mention it's summer and I live in a place where temperature reaches 45°C. My clothes creased badly because me and my friends kept fooling around, such as some pillow fight and dancing, haha. And yes, you can clearly see that I'm short (I wasn't in the mood to wear heels). Sigh, I'm really sorry for that poor photo-- I'm quite bad at this, haha. I vow to be better in the future (if ever).

Another apology for vanishing and not posting for the past two days. I was hardly home because of some errands I had to do. Hmm, I don't want to sound as if I'm making excuses anymore so I shall call it a night and be sure to present myself here tomorrow. Godspeed!

Day 27: A Picture Of You And Your Family

A picture of me and my family

Not much words needed here, right?

A family photo that was taken last year during my father's birthday, 23rd September, in Fujairah. Even though most people say that I look neither both of my parents nor resemble my little sister, they are my family that I talk, laugh and eat with every single day. Indeed, a love a family is God's greatest blessing.

Day 26: A Fictional Character You Admire

"Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent." - Sherlock Holmes, A Case of Identity.

From theatre to television, from book to manga. Name it and I'm certain that I'll be able to give you at least ten characters that I admire. But since the topic calls for a sole character, I must only name one. And you may have guessed already-- by the picture and quote, that I'm entitling this post to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's creation, Sherlock Holmes. Even though I enjoy reading and watching materials of mystery/detective fiction genre, it wasn't until recently that I became a Sherlockian. I started reading a bit of A Study in Scarlet in our school library which eventually led me to buy more Sherlock books for my own. What I admire the about Holmes, apart from his extraordinary intellect, is his ability to perceive things beyond what average person does. I find his oddities and idiosyncrasies entertaining too.

Alas, I know that the quality of my wits are not even half of Sherlock Holmes but it inspires me to look at matters with better comprehension. After all, everything can be just elementary.

Day 25: Guilty Food Pleasure

Yay! Another food post!  Well, not exactly, haha.

My guilty food pleasure? Hmm, everything? Haha, of course I can't say that, can I? Well then, here's my answer, chocolates. Yes, yes. I can hear a lot boos from everyone. But hey, I'm not saying I hate chocolate, just a guilty pleasure. I wouldn't answer chocolates if I don't always eat it. But that's it, I always eat chocolate. From tidbits to bars, from pastries to drinks. I live in house where I'm surrounded by chocolate in many forms. Though, I am aware that chocolates do have a lot benefits; anti-depressant, cancer fighter and even great for skincare. However, as they say, too much of a good thing is still bad. So perhaps, I can say that it's not the sole chocolate that is my guilty pleasure but rather excessive eating of it. Do I make any sense? Haha.

Sweet chocolate dreams to everyone!

Day 24: Your Personal Collection

My personal collection

I owe this blog two posts again. Here we go.

I feel so sad. This topic calls for my personal collections but I left most of them back in Philippines, such as my books, magazines, anime collectibles, stationery and scrapbook, even mugs. So I have no choice but to write about something I have here in Dubai. At first, I was planning to feature my K-pop albums, however, I don't really have a great number of it. Instead, I decided to go on with my accessories (which you can see in the photo with a terrible quality above). I didn't really intend to collect them at first. In fact, some of them were actually given as gifts. I love all of them (especially the keys) but my only my concern is that I'm terrible at keeping earrings-- I've lost a lot of pairs already, sigh.

I know it's not that much but, I guess it's better than nothing, right? Haha. I'll be back in a bit for today's post!

Day 23: Favourite Baby Names

I'm on time again, yay!

This topic is really odd. I wouldn't have any favourite since I don't have a baby anyway, haha. But I guess it means what names would I like to bestow my children in the future? Hmm, I haven't really thought about this but I think it would be nice if I take their names after the fictional characters I adore. Yes, yes, I know it sounds childish, haha. But hey, names like Ciel or Arya doesn't sound so bad, right? Just anything that sounds unique and cute.

Sigh. Honestly, I really don't know. I was worried about this post because I know I have nothing to say about it, haha. So before this entry gets more awkward, I'll end it here. Apologies.

Good night!

Day 22: What Would I Find In My Bag

What would I find in my bag; photo taken with instagram

The challenge topics seem to get more and more stalker like.

I'm not really a big on bags. I don't personally like bringing a lot of things either. And so, most of them would be just small sling bags and filled with just basic stuff I find useful when going out. Also, in that way, it would be easy for me whenever I change bags depending to what I feel like using or what would flatter the clothes I am wearing.

The bag in the photo above is the one that I recently wore (and also my favourite). I can always forget everything else but not my wallet; it basically has all the significant stuff I possess. Next thing that I must always bring is my phone or else my mom would kill me if she's not able to contact me and know my whereabouts. Beside my phone, you can see my earphones. Naturally, my earphones will always go with my iPod but I recently broke it and is now being repaired. Above my phone and earphones is my comb. You have no idea how my hair can be prone to tangles. I always bring a lip product too because I feel like I have most chapped lips in the world. Last item you can see is my aviator sunglasses; I live in Dubai after all. And if you are wondering how can I fit all of these in that tiny bag... well, I manage, haha.

Have a great evening, everyone.

Day 21: A Place You See Yourself In 5 Years

Let's get back on track, shall we?

A place that I would see myself in 5 years... hm, in the kitchen? No, this is not a joke. Because, as I have mentioned in my Day 5 post, I'm pursuing culinary and pastry arts as my future profession. However, if we're talking about the city where I see myself would be residing at, I am guessing that it'll still be Dubai.

Basically, I'll finish my highschool until next year. Afterwards, I'll attend a culinary school here and get my diploma. After attaining my diploma, I'm planning to work a bit to earn money and hopefully get my bachelors abroad. I do have few countries in mind where I dream to go and acquire my degree there. Later on, I'd still probably find myself going back here. Perhaps because this place is where my dream first started and also there are people here that I can't just leave behind. But then again, all of this is just a plan; a sketch of what I desire to wander in the future. So who knows what will really happen? I don't think anyone can foretell with all the twists and turns that will bechance. Thus, just like what they say, I'll just do my best and trust that God will to the rest.

Have a blessed night, everyone.

Day 20: Your Goals For This Month

I have a bad case of poor time management.

Yes, I am late again. So without further ado-- or should I say further procrastinating, I'll get straight to the goals I have for this month.

  • Finish this challenge. I think this will be the most apparent one. It's been 20 post and I am actually glad I got this far, haha. Except that I did get a lot of 'oopsies late'  here and there.
  • Fasting and abstinence. Just like how Ramadan started, me and my fellow YFCs are fasting and abstaining from few things too for our upcoming Youth Camp next month. Basically, we're not allowed to indulge ourselves on coloured drinks, chocolates, candies, chips and any other food that gives the same gratification. And oh, did I mention that I'm not allowed to do any Korean/Japanese related activities  either too?
  • Finish a book. I feel so bad. I bought few books (most are sequel of series that I used to read in Philippines) and they are just standing on my shelf. I started a bit of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes already and I think I should finish it this week, haha.

And that will be my goals for now. I'm pretty confident that I will be able to fulfill them even though I admit that I sometimes find it hard to fast and abstain with all the temptations I face. But I know I'll get by, haha.

Ramadan Kareem!

Day 19: A Picture Of You When You're A Baby

A baby picture of me

I am finally back. Not posting for two days felt like two weeks, sigh.

A post that was meant to be published yesterday. I was barely at home since yesterday. It was my friend's birthday in the afternoon and we had a family dinner in Dubai Mall. We got home at past 1 am already hence explains the lack of post yesterday. Today's a hectic yet blessed day too, we traveled to Abu Dhabi for YFC Program Summit and it lasted all day. I just got home three hours ago; really tired but up for some blogging!

Going back to today's post, the toddler you see above is me when I was just only one year of age. Most people say that I look different from my baby pictures. Which I do admit too, a bit. Maybe because I was way fairer before and cuter(?), haha. Though, as you can see above, I don't have any teeth in that photo. My mom said that I was able to walk first before growing any teeth. And how I wish I still have that silky, soft, straight black hair, sigh.

And that's it for this entry. I'll be back shortly for today's challenge post. Toodles!

Day 18: A Place You’ve Never Visited But Want To

In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. - Colossians 1:14

I have plenty of places that I would want to visit. And if you know me well, you would probably think I would say something like Japan, South Korea or Singapore. But for this post, I have chosen to write about a South American country I have been dreaming to go to, Brazil. What attracted me to Brazil is the great statue of Christ the Redeemer or Cristo Redentor in Rio de Janeiro. As it is already part of the New Wonders of the World, it would also be such a dream come true to be able to see the said statue that famously symbolises the Brazilian Christianity. In fact, the World Youth Day 2013 will be held in Brazil and I am hoping that I can take part of it. It seems impossible for me. But we never know, if it's His will, it'll happen :)

Have a blessed day ahead, everyone.

Day 17: A Hobby Of Yours

A really cute clay charm; photo by thirdratedstar

I'm safe today, whew.

This may sound ridiculous, but this is probably the toughest topic I've ever encountered so far. I don't really think I have a 'hobby'; I do have interests such as singing, dancing, playing piano, reading books and mangas, and even sketching and clay charms. I just don't do them as much as others does which makes me feel hesitant on putting them on my list and tag them as my hobbies. Likewise, I used to peg baking as a hobby. However, it's more of a professional pursuit now for me.

So I guess that would be it for today's post. I feel awkward because it feels like I didn't write anything worth reading in this entry at all, haha. Hopefully, tomorrow's post would be more interesting. Apologies.

May God bless us all :)

Day 16: Your Best Friend

In the picture above, the person beside me (on the right) is my best friend for 7 years, Tammy. We first met each other when we were just on our fifth grade. I was new to school and she's the first person that I got close to became my true friend. Also, we were friendly rivals for the top of the class, haha. I really miss her, and even though we can't talk to each other often, I really treasure her a lot because she's the first best friend I ever had.

I already mentioned this best friend of mine on my previous post. Meet Leigh Ann, my best friend since freshman year of highschool and the person who knows almost all the things about me. When I first met her, I thought she was a quiet type of person but I was wrong. She's crazy, hyperactive and bubbly- not a bad thing though, since we share the same qualities.

The pretty girl above is Zesnalie, my best friend since grade six. What I love about her is that she's really fun to hang out with. We always used to sneak out and travel on 45-minute journey bus just to go to a mall or maybe walk to a nearby park near to our school and eat all the kinds of street food you can see there. She's a best friend that would go with you anywhere and laugh with you until your tummy hurts. Ah, good old times, but I know in the future we will create more good memories, perhaps better.

And those three are my cherished best friends. I haven't seen them in a while so I'm dying to see them again. Truth is, writing this post just accentuated my longing for them even more. God knows just how much I am glad to have them on my life.

Sweet dreams to everyone.

p.s. If you are one of my best friends reading this, I am so sorry for posting your picture, teehee. :)

Day 15: A Picture Of You And Your Friends

Due to this day's topic, this post will be loaded more by photos than words. So let me warn you that this might be a little picture heavy. And please pardon the quality of some of them.

Let's start with my highschool friends in Philippines. Most of them are my girl friends, since most of my guy highschool classmates are 'allergic' with camera.

Freshman year; photo with all of my highschool girl friends

Junior year; prom picture with some of my friends

Summer vacation 2011; hang out with some of my friends in KFC

Going on with my dear school friends here in Dubai.

School trip to Ferrari World

Mufti Day for Breast Cancer Awareness

And my cherished friends from Youth For Christ.

Camp United; post-camp group picture

Birthday celebration together with my chapter

National Conference 2012; post event fellowship and despedida dinner

Twelve minutes late today! Oops. And since we're talking about friends here; just a little shout out to Leigh Ann, my best friend in Philippines who just cheered me up knowing I am getting late, and to James who says that he's awesome.

Good night, everyone.

Day 14: Your Day, In Great Detail

Group photo; taken at Burjuman Mall

Friday, 14th July 2012
Plan(s) I had for the day: Youth For Christ - Cluster Assembly

I woke up around 6 am, suddenly bolting up because I thought I am late for the day as I have forgotten to set an alarm. Realising it's too early, I went back to sleep and finally got out of the bed around 8 am. I started to get ready; took a shower, wore something blue as per requirement and had my breakfast. Supposedly, I was to meet my fellow YFCs in metro station at 9 am. But due to some problems, my dad wasn't able to send me to the station util 9:45 am, oops. Upon arrival, I got a lot teases stating how late I was and how late we will be for the meeting that will start at 10 am whereas the travel takes 45 minutes. During the train ride, we were just sitting and chatting at the whole time, though I was quiet for most of the time because I was still sleepy.

We arrived at the church around 10:30 am. Most of the youths were already inside as they listen to the teaching of songs. I settled myself beside a girl friend of mine and sang along. Not long after, the opening worship started and we did the activity for the day. The topic was "Walk on water"; being called out in a mission. The activity we did was called Trust Walk. We were paired with another youth that we weren't familiar with and one of us had to cover the other one's eyes and guide him/her through a course in the room. Me and my partner were able to last until the end, gladly. After the activity, we were shown a teaser about the Mission Month for next August following by some announcements from our national head. Another talk was given by our cluster head regarding the gospel Matthew 14:22-33. We then had our closing prayer and worship.

After the meeting, we decided to have a mini-fellowship in Burjuman. We hanged out at the food court and got our food. While eating, we planned our upcoming activities for the Mission Month in August and I also had some chat with my friend regarding Noli me Tangere, Philippines history, and even Hitler, haha. I ate two pieces of chicken and a slice of pizza. After eating, some of us decided to play games; thumbs up game, counting game, and answer/question game. We left the mall around 5 pm, said goodbyes to others and rode the train going back home. As usual, we chatted, trolled and laughed throughout the whole ride. We even had some horror stories and played games again until we arrived the station and waited for the bus.

I finally reached home around 7 pm. My parents, fortunately, weren't mad about it since the sun is still up. I changed back to my home clothes and visited the sites I always go to. I, then, started writing my Day 13 post since I wasn;t able to make it yesterday while chatting with some of my friends. I had to do the laundry afterwards and had a dinner with my family. We had some shrimp dim sum wrapped in seaweed, yummy. And now, I am typing this. So I guess the story ends here, haha. I am glad to be able to remember the things I went through today. Probably because I had so much fun today too.

I shall conclude this post here, but I will post a picture some time when I get one. So have a good night everyone.

Day 13: A List of All The Places You’ve Lived

Late by a day, oh no.

If you have read my Day 11 post, you are probably already aware of how we used to move place around my home province, Cavite. Again for the third time, I was born in Cavite City and I vaguely remember that we also used to live in Makati, a city in Manila, but went back to Cavite City again when I reached 2 years of age. When I was 6 years old, we moved to Silang (a city in Cavite, near to Tagaytay) and stayed about 2 years. We next transferred to Bacoor city and abided there for about a year before going back to Cavite City again. Five years passed and we migrated to the place we're currently living right now, Dubai. It has been only more than two years since we arrived here.

We used to move a lot due to my parents' work. Even here in Dubai, it was the job opportunity that pulled us here, not only for us, but also for most of the people who migrated it.

And now, this post ends here. I'll be back later for today's day challenge.

Day 12: A Photo Of Me Taken Recently

A photo of me taken recently

Last minute posting!

It's been a while since I last posted a picture of myself here on my blog. This photo is dated 3 weeks ago, and yes, this is the most recent picture I have since I don't really take pictures of myself often. Anyway, this was set on Max's Restaurant here in Dubai. It was a Friday so my parents decided to have a family lunch on the said Filipino restaurant. Also, you can also see my favourite buko pandan shake above. Love it.

Good night, everyone.

Day 11: Name Of Your Elementary School

Tiring, tiring day.

I chuckled a bit when I saw the title of this day post. Not because the topic is outrageous, but because it reminded me of how we used to move houses all over our province causing me to change from one elementary school to another. As I have mentioned on my Day 1 post that I was born in Cavite City, I attended Julian R. Felipe Elementary School for first grade. It's actually the school that the rest of my family members went. I was just 5 years old then due to my school acceleration and skipping kindergarten. For the next two years we shifted to another city in Cavite called Silang and I transferred to Silang Central School. And for two years, I was bullied. Everyday my snacks were stolen and I would always be alone. But no, this is not a forlorn story, because believe me, I didn't really care that much. My parents were always busy at work so I kept myself busy too in drawing and writing letters for them.

I reached fourth grade in year 2004. This time we lived in Bacoor (another city in Cavite) and I enrolled to a school named Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School. However, at the end of my school year, my parents left to Dubai causing me and my sister to be in the hands of my grandmother. I moved back to my first elementary school once again and graduated there. Grade 5 and 6 are probably my most cherished years throughout my elementary. Those are the years that I was finally able to make true friends and felt that I am really an elementary student.

I'm twenty minutes late, oh no! Me and my family just got home after having a dinner at a mall that is 45 minutes away. Hope this won't happen again because I really feel bad.

Sweet dreams, everyone!

Day 10: A Silly Photo Of Me

A silly photo of me

I am never picture-friendly.

This picture was taken 3 years ago. I was in a school supplies store with my highschool friends and Halloween was approaching. Wearing the beastly masks they had on shelves, we decided to goof around a bit. This silly photo is the easiest I could get hold of (even though most of my pictures are silly anyways, haha). It really reminds of me of my highschool days in the Philippines, though those two friends of mine are already in college and I'm still on my last year of secondary school. Sigh. The person on the far right is me by the way, haha.

Day 9: A Photo I Took

A photo I took with my incompetent photography skills

Day 9 and counting...

This photo is rather impromptu. It was a winter afternoon last November when we went out to Zabeel park for a while. I remember taking the picture above while we were eating pizza. The camera was just lying down on the grass and so I decided to play around with it for a bit. Even though I had so much things to capture with the lens, I somehow just decided to just take a picture of the grass (probably because I was too lazy to stand up too). Despite of that amateur photo, I like it. Maybe because of how blurry the horizon is, just like our own futures which we have no means of uncovering but to just dwell with the present.

Hmm, let's go a bit off-topic and have some little update. My summer vacation is not yet even halfway through it and I'm starting to hate myself. I haven't done anything worth since the holidays started in contrast to all the plans I had before. Sigh. At least I get to this challenge and maybe I'll feel more satisfied with myself when I get to finish this.

Sweet dreams.

Day 8: Picture Of The Last Place You Visited

View from the cable car; Ocean Park, Hong Kong

Pandas.

I don't know what the title really meant by the last place visited. Out of town? City excursion? Or perhaps, visit over my friend's house few days ago? Just to be safe, I'll go ahead with my last visit out of country.

Last summer, as I have mentioned already from my previous posts, we visited Hong Kong which lasted only for couple of days. In spite of exhaustion, jet lag and some hotel mismanagement, this place left a really good impression on me. I fell for it as soon as I we exited the airport. Probably because it's my first time again seeing green mountains again after staying in Dubai for almost two years.

We arrived there early in the morning and unfortunately had some dispute regarding our room reservation. After sitting for hours in the lobby, we finally got a room and went on to our itinerary. We visited Ocean Park; saw lovely pandas and rode a cable car. Sadly, we all couldn't take the summer heat and went back to hotel earlier than we expected. Day after, we spent our whole time in Disneyland. The experience was so much better than Ocean Park. I figured to wear the right clothes, forgiving to sun's heat. Moving on to third and last day, we decided to do some shopping in the morning. If only I knew better, I should've bought more stuff than I did and bargained for cheaper prices.  We went back to hotel at noon to catch the shuttle bus going to the airport.

I would really love to go back to Hong Kong again. Food is exquisite, attractions are pleasing and people are likeable (and pandas). I have never seen so much Asians, which was pretty satisfying after being in Dubai for quite of time.

Now that I realise it, it's been a year since I last left UAE. Supposedly, we were to visit Singapore and Philippines last May, but alas, we weren't able to due to my mom's job. I'm hoping that I could also make another travel post soon. Sigh, perhaps on Christmas.

Day 7: Your Favorite Food and Recipe

Baked Spaghetti with White Cheese Sauce; excuse my photography skills

Mother does know best.

One of my favourite food is my mom's spaghetti which is, coincidentally, our tonight's dinner. Yes,one of my favourites since it's nearly impossible for me to pick out just one dish. Aforementioned, I'm a zealous lover of my mom's spaghetti since I was a kid. It's a quite a surprise when she suddenly came up with her new improvised spaghetti topped with some white sauce and placed it on our table. Mind you though, this is Filipino styled, so expect it to be sweet than your a regular spaghetti, oh, and also some sausage!

Day 5: Ideal Future Career

5th day and counting...

It wasn't until recently that I have chosen to pursue culinary and pastry arts. As I have mentioned before that I'm a dreamer, I sure did have a long list of my 'wannabe' professions since I was a kid; varying from singer, scientist to detective. However, despite my indecisiveness, I am definite to follow this course this time and I pray not to waver.

Moving on as to why I determined to become a chef, I have my few reasons. For starters, I could never ever imagine myself sitting in front of computer facing endless numbers and letters. Not that I cannot do it, but I just don't think I'll be able to last long doing office work or anything similar. Another thing, I have to mind not only myself, but also my whole family. I had to decide on something that does not only interest me but also gives convenience to people around me. So not only considering that being a chef is paid well, I think it's also apparent that I love food, haha.

So keeping myself forward to this goal, I am doing my best right now to practise my current skills and also focus on my academics to attain more opportunities in the future that will help me to achieve this future ideal career. In next two months, I'll be facing my last year as a high school student, hoping to get my diploma here in Dubai afterwards and then getting my bachelors abroad. Life may not always go according to your plans, but still better than not having any objectives at all, right?

Day 4: A Song You Want Played At Your Wedding

God knows we're worthy. No, I won't give up.

This is probably the one of the sweetest song sung by one of the dearest artist that I've ever heard. Jason Mraz once again captivated me with this piece that made me profusely think 'Ah, it must be nice to play this at my own wedding.'. It overwhelms me how it does not only portray pure love, but also faith and hope.

"And now, these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
~1 Corinthians 13:13

Day 3: A Youtube Video

He said, 'Son, do you know I still love you?'.

A Youtube video that I came across few months ago during a Youth Camp and brought me to tears like no other music video did. It was played to the camp participants as I just stood at the side by the wall, quietly crying throughout the whole 5 minutes. I wondered why was I crying so hard as the lyrics of the song echoed to my mind. It wasn't tears of frustration nor sorrow. But tears of gratefulness of how wonderful God we have. Some people take the path that is laid before them, or perhaps create their own, while some are just lost. However, the trail will be once drawn again as long as we are willing to run back to Him and fall back into His arms again. After all, we are God's son.

Day 2: A Picture Of Your Favorite Animal

Second day is up!

Adorable, cute, cuddly-looking; I couldn't think of any more words to describe how precious these lovable creatures are. My family, friends, and colleagues; they are all thoroughly aware of how I adore Giant Pandas so much. And as a panda-lover, I am definite that you'll stumble to a lot of them when you go through my belongings; from small cellphone charm to pencil cases to head beanies. Even my school teacher would find a lot of drawings and sketches of pandas in my notes, oopsies. I saw them once in person last year when we flew to Hong Kong and visited Ocean Park. There were two pandas that I saw, named Le le and Ying ying. Even though they were sleeping when we visited, I was still in delight because I finally saw them. I would definitely love to see them again next time!

Day 1: A Picture Of The City You Were Born In

Cavite City checkpoint, Heroes Arch; photo by arisjohn

July is finally here!

A thousand miles away from the city I currently live is the city prominent for its historical past during the era of Spaniards and Americans in the Philippines and is the city when I was born. Cavite city, or Ciudad de Cavite, is the first district of the province of Cavite located at the foot of Manila (metropolis of Philippines). It is the place I saw when I first opened my eyes as well as the last abode I engraved into my mind when I left for Dubai.

One thing that I probably would never forget about Cavite City is the dialect. When I was born, we lived in our family ancestral house and since my great-grandmother is Spanish, we use a dialect called Chavacano. It is a spanish-based creole language that is, as suggested, a mixed of Tagalog and Espanol. Sadly, I don't speak it but I can understand it really well especially when my grandmother would always say durung duru cabeza (means 'you're really stubborn', haha). This is actually one the things that I look forward to whenever I go back home to my country, the sound of Chavacano words filling the house just gives a feeling of wholeness of our family. Ah, how nostalgic.

I may not live there anymore but I'm certain that Cavitena blood still flows through me.
